Practice what you preach

In light of the recent debate on functional programming, monads, their true meaning and what have you, I have found my own ramblings embarrassing and decided to take them down from my blog. Someone is wrong on the Internet, but it does not have to be me anymore.

The decision applies in particular to my Atacama project — a half-baked attempt at inventing yet another programming notation, of concatenative and pure functional nature. I have not, though, given up the project completely, but I have to be more careful for the future, more accurate in what I write, and how. I'm going to rewrite it from scratch, with more attention to the mathematical foundations of the notation, and perhaps spare you certain bits and pieces from my inner monologue. It is going to take a lot more time, but I consider it worth it.

Gosh, yet another blog!

Here is Edward Bear, coming downstairs now, bump, bump, bump, on the back of his head, behind Christopher Robin. It is, as far as he knows, the only way of coming downstairs, but sometimes he feels that there really is another way, if only he could stop bumping for a moment and think of it. And then he feels that perhaps there isn't.

Yep, I always wanted to possess such a place on the Web and call it my own, but found the desire too egocentric, even by my own twisted standards—that me, me, me attitude, the shameless self-promotion. I needed, however, a platform to share a couple of my pet ideas, in the hope for a feedback from someone—anyone—posing similar questions. And I needed it badly, it looks like from this perspective.

For some purposes, there was Twitter. Well, I was one of its fairly early adopters and, of course, you can still find me there. Twitter seemed enough for a moment or two, but try and explain a whole new concept—new to you, at least and foremost, which makes it even harder—in at most 140 characters at a time.

Anyhow, just a decade or so, and here it is, my blog, ready to be introduced to you.
